The use of additives in asphalt mixtures has become more common over the past two decades. Two of the most common modifiers which have been used to enhance the stability and durability of asphalt binders are polymers such as styrene-butadiene-styrene and recycled tire rubber. While these binders typically cost more than a virgin asphalt, these binders, in the right circumstance, can provide significant benefits to roadway owners. In this webinar the participant will: 1. Learn the history of modifying asphalt binders 2. Explore how asphalt binders are modified 3. Determine best practices for handling modified binders at an asphalt plant 4.
